Initial stage (selection by 15 June 2008)
On the basis of sample recordings submitted (CDs, tapes or DVDs) a selection of competitors is made
Repertoire for sample recording: a piano trio of competitors’ choice (Registration closing date for receipt of sample recordings: June 6, 2008)
Semi-finals: September 11 and 12, 2008
To be performed:
- First movement of one of the piano trios by Franz Schubert
(No. 1 B flat major D 898 or No. 2 E flat major D 929)
- A piano trio by Johannes Brahms, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Antonín Dvořák, Robert Schumann, Maurice Ravel or Bedřich Smetana (total time not exceeding 45 minutes)
Final: September 14, 2008
- Compulsory piece: Mauricio Kagel (Piano trios No. 1 or No. 2, approximately 15 to 20 minutes)
- A piano trio by Ludwig van Beethoven
- An additional work of competitors’ choice
(total time not exceeding 90 minutes)
