Competition for piano trio/ piano quartet

The interaction of tradition and inspired young musicians has prompted the Commerzbank Foundation to create the International Commerzbank Chamber Music Award which was awarded for the first time in 2008. The inclusion of contemporary music in the competition programme constitutes an important relation to the requirements of today's professionals in music, as the pieces of living composers are considered a standard part of modern repertoires.

This is as central to the competition in 2010 as the support of young talents. The cooperation with the Alte Oper Frankfurt and the College of Music and Performing Arts Frankfurt underlines the importance of the Chamber Music Award to the city of Frankfurt. The Commerzbank Foundation invites citizens of Frankfurt and guests to visit the competition stages on 14, 15 and 17 September and the prize winner concert on 19 September.
